WHAT TO BRING
TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:
There are several
things that you must remember to bring to your appointment at Lexington
Eye Associates:
- Medical insurance
card
- Proper referral
from your primary care physician
Many HMOs and
insurance companies will not permit a visit unless a referral has
been obtained in advance of that visit. We ask that you obtain any
necessary referrals so that you will be assured that your insurance
company will pay for the visit.
It is also helpful
to our staff if you bring the following:
- Eyeglasses
- Contact lens
prescriptions (if available) NOTE: this may be on your contact
lens case or vial.
- List of all
your current medications
- Name and
address of the physician who referred you to Lexington Eye Associates
- Download a registration form prior to your visit by clicking here. Bring this completed form with you on the day of your visit.
YOUR EYE
EXAMINATION
The ophthalmic
technicians at Lexington Eye Associates are responsible for taking
your preliminary history and for performing the initial portion
of the eye examination. They are carefully trained and supervised
by our physicians in the performance of these duties. Your diagnosis
and treatment will be provided by your ophthalmologist. Please note
that most routine visits last about one hour. At times, a patient
with a more complex problem such as acute glaucoma or retinal detachment
could spend a few hours in the office. As we know your time is valuable,
we make every effort to adhere to the daily appointment schedule;
however, occasionally, unforeseen emergencies result in delays or
make it necessary for us to change your appointment. If possible,
we will call you ahead of time to let you know if it is necessary
for us to change your appointment. We hope you will understand if
either of these situations happens to you.
GOING HOME
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
In order to
have a complete eye examination, most people will have eye drops
that dilate their pupils. Following these eye drops, your near vision
will be blurred. Although most people can drive home safely with
dilated pupils, some find driving and working difficult for several
hours afterwards. In order to be prepared, you may want to bring
sunglasses with you and arrange for someone else to drive you home.
For several hours following your appointment, you may want to avoid
doing close work.
PAYMENT POLICIES
Lexington Eye
Associates will submit claims to your HMO or insurance company.
Co-payments are due on the day of examination. If your appointment is not a covered service with your insurance; we ask that you make payment at the time of
your visit. Feel free to direct your questions or financial concerns to
our Billing Department at 781-862-1706. They are happy to assist you
with forms if you are having difficulty. Please also feel free to
discuss financial issues with your physician at Lexington Eye
Associates.
Contact lenses
and office visits related to contact lenses are usually not
covered by most insurance programs. However, many insurances do
offer discounts. Please contact your insurance carrier to find out
your coverage. Contact lenses
must be paid for at the time of pick-up or prior to mailing.
